Unbelievable...

I can't even begin to express my frustration this evening! I beyond astounded at this point in how one teacher that advocates and stands up for a child becomes enemy number one! A child has to transfer to another area high school due to circumstances beyond his control and all of a sudden a witch hunt begins for his teacher because she is 'encouraging children to attend another area school'.

I have been put in a situation where the decision has to be made-- do I continue to stand up for what I believe in, be the teacher that I KNOW that I am and that the kids need, or quietly stand by and watch as the steam roller continues to go over and kill the spirits of many children?

I became a teacher to help children. To teach them the things that they don't understand and advocate for those that don't have a voice! How has it come to this.... no wonder we have no teachers!

Discouraged

Do you ever feel like beating your head against the wall because no one is listening? Or maybe you feel like you beat your head on the wall constatnly without getting anywhere. I had one of those days today. I am having a hard time accepting that people are still in the profession of education and don't have children's best interests at heart. Why are they still teaching from the front of the textbook to the back?
